What customers say?

“ My wife and I returned here for dinner on Saturday night. Great to have live jazz, as an accompaniment to the great food. We chose to share some sensational fried crab cream croquettes ($12) and a delicious, hot, 300ml bottle of Uonuma Sake ($37), then my wife chose the 9 piece Sashimi Set ($35) which she truly enjoyed. I chose the Chicken Karaage Curry Rice ($26) which is served with fresh salad. I loved the traditional Japanese serving with the succulent chicken, potato and carrot pieces, the soft white rice and the delicious curry. Though we had not booked a table, we walked straight in around 6.30 pm and got a table for 1 hour, which was enough time to enjoy the meal. Staff are warm and friendly and service is excellent. Ambiance is a treat in such a small space, reminiscent of traditional, small, Japanese eating establishments in Japan. To be sure of a table, it is advisable to book. I understand that live music is only on weekends. A meal here is highly recommended. ”

“ This is a must visit restaurant! Be sure to book ahead or you may be lucky to snag a table at this cozy little popular restaurant. Popular because of the authenticity and the decor, the Whiskey and Sake list is insanely good and worth a visit just to sit a the bar and admire the range of bottles they stock. Then we come to the food, well if you want fresh, quality ingredients, served exactly how Japanese food should be, then you have come to the right place. Staff are super friendly, quick service and the ambience really warms your heart, or is that the Gold Flake Sake talking, hahaha, top restaurant, fabulous ”

“ One of the greatest Japanese hidden gems in Sydney. You’re greeted by a family who runs the restaurant and gives warm vibes. The place is compact and cosy and warmly lit giving a nice vibe to the place. With some ingredients like the noodles being directly exported from Japan, it gave the right taste and textures. Delicious food, great whiskey, service was quick and friendly. Matcha ice cream is a must try. ”

“ I really love this cute, authentic Japanese restaurant. It honestly felt like the really cool little bars you find in Osaka. The food was great too - I had the Karaage bento. Good tap beer - not sure what it was but hit the spot. Would definitely return! ”

“ The food here is consistently delicious, authentic, and made with fresh ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for a comforting teishoku (Japanese meal set) or something lighter, every dish is full of flavour and beautifully presented. While many people come here for the food, one of the best-kept secrets is how amazing their bar is! The drink menu is impressive – from a wide selection of Japanese whisky and sake to expertly made cocktails. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and takes pride in creating perfectly balanced, classic cocktails that never disappoint. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner, date night, or even just a casual drink at the bar. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Japanese food and top-quality drinks in North Sydney! ”

“ The food here was so nice and flavourful, it definitely exceeded my expectation. I got the oyakodon which felt so warm and had the homecooked feel it needed. The atmosphere was amazing and the lighting was so soothing. It's definitely worth visiting and the fact it's also tucked away truly gives it a hidden gem feel. ”

“ High quality sashimi, i love the Pork Katsu Curry, the curry sauce has rich, thick, mild and sweet taste flavour. Katsu curry is available in Pork, Chicken and Prawns. We also tried the Chicken Katsu don which was also good. Love the atmosphere and ambience ”
